Co-Sitters & Sitting Partners

Team up with a partner, spouse, friend, or family member to apply for house sits together.

What is Co-Sitting?

Co-sitting lets you link your SitterRight account with another sitter so you can apply for house sits together as a team. This is perfect for:

  • Couples who travel and sit together
  • Friends who want to share sitting experiences
  • Family members who sit together
  • Retirees looking for extended sits with a partner

Benefits of Co-Sitting

Apply Together

Submit joint applications to hosts as a team, showing you'll be sitting together.

Shared Reviews

Hosts write one review that both co-sitters receive, building both your profiles.

Better for Longer Sits

Two sitters means more flexibility and coverage for extended house sits.

Combined Experience

Showcase both sitters' skills and experience to hosts reviewing your application.

How to Link with a Co-Sitter

1

Go to Co-sitters

Navigate to Co-sitters from your Sitter Profile page.

2

Click 'Invite Co-Sitter'

Enter your partner's email address. They'll receive an invitation to connect.

3

Select Your Relationship

Optionally specify your relationship (Partner, Spouse, Friend, Family, etc.).

4

They Accept the Invite

Your co-sitter clicks the link in their email to accept. If they're new, they'll be invited to create an account first.

5

Complete Verifications

Both sitters must have ID verification completed to apply for sits together.

Relationship Types

When linking with a co-sitter, you can optionally specify your relationship. This helps hosts understand your team:

SpouseMarried partner
FriendClose friend you travel or sit with
FamilySibling, parent, child, or other family member
OtherAny other co-sitting arrangement

Requirements for Co-Sitting

Both Must Have Accounts

Both you and your co-sitter need SitterRight accounts. You can invite non-members and they'll be prompted to sign up.

ID Verification Required

Both sitters must complete ID verification before you can apply for sits together. This protects hosts and ensures trust.

Complete Sitter Profiles

Both sitters should have complete profiles with photos, bios, and experience to give hosts confidence in your team.

Tips for Co-Sitting Success

Coordinate Your Profiles

Make sure both profiles highlight complementary skills. If one of you is great with dogs and the other with cats, mention this!

Verify Early

Complete ID verification as soon as you create your account so you're ready to apply with your co-sitter immediately.

Communicate Your Relationship

Hosts often prefer couples or family members. Make sure your relationship type is visible in your applications.

Both Profiles Matter

Hosts will review both profiles, so ensure both are complete with good photos and detailed experience sections.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have multiple co-sitters?

Yes, you can link with multiple co-sitters. When applying to a listing, you'll choose which co-sitter (if any) to apply with for that specific sit.

What if my co-sitter doesn't have an account?

No problem! When you invite them, they'll receive an email with a link to create an account and automatically connect with you once registered.

Can I apply solo even if I have a co-sitter linked?

Absolutely. Having a linked co-sitter doesn't prevent you from applying solo. You choose whether to include your co-sitter on each application.

How do reviews work for co-sitters?

When a host writes a review after a sit, both co-sitters receive the same review on their profiles. This helps both of you build your reputation together.

Can I unlink from a co-sitter?

Yes, either person can unlink at any time from the Sitting Partners page. Past reviews you received together will remain on both profiles.

Why do both sitters need ID verification?

ID verification is required to protect hosts. They need assurance that both people entering their home have been verified. This is a safety requirement for co-sitting.

Do both co-sitters need to pay booking fees?

No. The booking fee is per application, not per sitter. You pay one fee whether applying solo or with a co-sitter.

What happens if one co-sitter can't make the sit?

You should contact the host immediately to discuss. Depending on the circumstances, you may need to cancel and the host's cancellation policy would apply.
