Understanding Trust Score
Your trust score is calculated based on your completed verifications. The maximum score is 100 points. Sitters with scores of 80 or higher receive up to 40% more booking requests.

Verification Types
Email Verification
+10 ptsRequiredVerify your email address to confirm you have access to it. This happens automatically when you create your account.
How to verify: Click the verification link sent to your email when you sign up.
Phone Verification
+15 ptsRequiredVerify your phone number so hosts and sitters can contact you if needed. We'll send a code via SMS.
How to verify: Go to Settings > Contact and add your phone number. Enter the verification code sent to your phone.
ID Verification
+35 ptsRequiredVerify your identity using a government-issued ID. This helps ensure everyone on SitterRight is who they say they are.
How to verify: Go to Settings > Verification and click 'Verify' next to Identity. Follow the prompts to upload your ID and take a selfie.
Background Check
+30 ptsOptionalOptional but highly recommended for sitters. A background check shows hosts you've been professionally vetted.
How to verify: Go to Settings > Verification and click 'Get Background Checked'. Complete the process through our partner Certn. One-time fee (pricing varies by country).
References
+5 pts eachOptionalRequest references from people who can vouch for your character and pet care abilities. Each verified reference adds to your trust score.
How to verify: Go to Settings > Verification and scroll to References. Enter the name and email of your reference, and we'll send them a request.
Background Check Details
Our background checks are conducted through Certn, a trusted third-party verification service. The check includes:
- Criminal record check
- Identity verification
- Sex offender registry check

Is my information secure?
Yes. All verification data is encrypted and handled securely. We use trusted third-party services for ID verification and background checks. Your sensitive documents are not stored on our servers.
What if my verification fails?
If your ID verification fails, you can retry the process. Common issues include poor photo quality or expired documents. If problems persist, contact our support team for assistance.
Do verifications expire?
Background checks are valid for one year. ID verification doesn't expire unless your ID document expires. You may be asked to re-verify if your ID expires.
