Sending Messages

Starting a conversation on SitterRight is easy. You can message someone in several ways:

    From a Listing

    Open any listing and tap the "Message Host" button to ask questions or express interest.

    From a Profile

    Visit a sitter or host's profile and click "Send Message" to start chatting.

    From Bookings

    Once a booking is confirmed, use the messaging tab within the booking to coordinate details.

Before the Booking

Good communication before the sit sets the stage for a great experience. Here are best practices:

  • Introduce yourself

    Share a bit about your experience, your lifestyle, and why you're interested in the sit.

  • Ask questions about pets and home

    Learn about feeding schedules, medical needs, house rules, and any special requirements.

  • Discuss dates and logistics

    Confirm arrival and departure times, key handover, and any travel arrangements.

  • Share emergency contacts

    Exchange vet details, neighbour contacts, and any other emergency information.

During the Sit

Keep communication flowing while the sit is underway. Hosts love hearing how their pets are doing:

    Send daily updates with photos

    A quick message with a photo or two goes a long way in reassuring hosts their pets are happy.

    Report any concerns immediately

    If something unexpected happens with the pets or home, let the host know right away.

    Confirm check-out arrangements

    As the sit nears its end, confirm departure time and any final tasks or handover details.

    Keep the host informed

    Even if everything is going perfectly, a brief "all is well" message keeps hosts at ease.

Not Getting a Response?

  • Check your notification settings to make sure push notifications are enabled
  • Send a polite follow-up message after 48 hours if you haven't heard back
